Asmodee has acquired the flagship IP of struggling CMON Games, Zombicide, the $40m Kickstarter hit that raised an initial $780,000 when it first launched in 2012.
The game will join the Guillotine Games label with full rights to existing titles as well as future developments.
Thomas Kœgler, Asmodee CEO said, “We are proud the iconic Zombicide IP further strengthens our tabletop games portfolio and allows us to reinforce our presence in key geographics. I can’t wait for the team to get to work at what’s coming next for this fantastic IP.”
The woes are set to continue at CMON, as they recently sold 5 of their titles, which included the Eric Lang trilogy of Blood Rage, Rising Sun and Ankh: Gods of Egypt, as well as his co-designs of Arcadia Quest and Starcadia Quest created alongside Thiago Aranha, Guilherme Goulart and Fred Parret as well as selling Tabletop Tycoon.
The company still retains its Marvel United and DC Super Heroes United range, however still sees six crowdfunded games and seven preorders due for delivery throughout 2025 as well as nine undelivered crowdfunding campaigns.
For now, Asmodee set to continue their ongoing strategy of bolstering it’s presence as a global powerhouse within the tabletop industry.
