Ticket To Ride: Legends of the West

Almost two decades since its release, Ticket To Ride is getting its most exciting revamp yet. In the vast and untamed lands of the American Wild West, a new era of railroading is about to unfold. Days of exploration, conquest, and opportunity lie ahead as players embark on a thrilling journey through the iconic landscapes of the Old West.

The designer of the 2004 Spiel De Jahres winner, Alan R Moon teamed up with fellow award-winning designers, Rob Daviau, the godfather of the legacy genre and Matt Leacock, creator of the hugely popular Pandemic series to create the 12 episode campaign set in the Wild West.

Though keen to keep the core game under wraps until it hits the rails in November, the three Spiel De Jarhes award-winning musketeers told Polygon players of the game will play the role of pioneers in the 19th century, as you would imagine in a legacy game their will be challenges to meet and new frontiers to be unlocked with the rules constantly changing as the game evolves.

The train themed legacy game differs to those typically designed by Matt Leacock as ‘Legends of the West’ will be a competitive game apposed to the cooperative types such as Pandemic. The game allows 2-5 players including the typical plastic trains cars, events cards that players of TTR will be used to but with the addition of newspaper clippings and Moon’s favourite component, a story that pieces together the 12 episodes.

Ticket To Ride: Legends of the West is set to release on November 3rd 2023 in America, we expect to hear a lot more on the game in the build up to its launch.
